Scotland Witnesses Constant rise in Population

As per a report from the General Register Office for Scotland, it has been revealed that there has been a significant rise in the Scotland's population. One of the main reasons for such a rise in the Scotland population is rise in immigrants' population.

The report has found that there were 5,254,800 people living north of the Border in 2011, which is 32,700 more than the count, being done in 2010. The Scottish Government said that they are quite happy with the rise in the population and welcomed the surge.

Some groups, which helped in increasing the population, were 42,300 immigrants and asylum seekers and 10,000 Scots, who returned home from foreign lands. The government has asked that the council of economic advisers need to reframe the growth targets, so that they can match up to the increased population.

Graeme Brown, director of Shelter Scotland, said, "In Scotland there is already a shortage of affordable and socially-rented housing, with 156,000 households waiting for a home. The fact the population is now at a record high".

The population has been increasing form a long time now; it's been nine year now that there has been a continuous rise in the population.
