As per a recent study, being taken out by a group of researchers from the University of Manchester, it has been revealed that dinosaurs were not as s heavy as they were thought. General perception of dinosaur in common man’s mind is an animal, which used to have enormous weight and was not less than a monster.

However, it is now that the study researchers have revealed that they have calculated the body mass index of dinosaurs and have found that they were not as heavy as they were perceived to be. Lead author Dr Bill Sellers was of the view that it is very difficult to know the real weight of a fossilized animal.

Same problem was with them, but they used laser technology and found that dinosaurs are huge, but they are not as heavy as thought. The study has also been published in the journal Biology Letters, said Sellers.

He revealed in the journal that when they weighed a Brachiosaur skeleton, which was in the Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin, they found the weight of dinosaur to be 23 tons. “We laser scanned various large mammal skeletons, including polar bear, giraffe and elephant, and calculated the minimum wrapping volume of the main skeletal sections”, said Sellers.
