Nine Science Teachers honored with Annual Amgen Award For Teaching Excellence

Winners of this year’s Amgen Award for Science Teaching Excellence (AASTE) have been getting the attention of one and all. it is know that this award is meant for those who have made significant contribution in the field of teaching at the kindergarten through 12th grade level.

This year, nine science teachers in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico have been picked for the same. it has been even confirmed by Amgen that the award is meant for recognizing the efforts made by teachers in public and private schools.

It was in the year 1992 that this award was started to recognize the commitment made by teachers in science education. "Even after twenty years of presenting the AASTE awards, we never cease to be impressed and inspired by the teachers who are elevating science literacy through creativity in their classrooms," said Joseph P. Miletich, M. D., Ph. D., senior vice president of Research and Development at Amgen.

This is to be noted that teachers have a huge role to play in one’s life and that’s why it was required that some amount of recognition is being given to them to respect their efforts. All the winners would get an unrestricted cash award of $5,000 USD or $5,000 CAD, restricted grant of $5,000 USD or $5,000 CAD for the winners’ school for development of the school's science teachers etc.
