It seems that the review of procedures at NHS Ayrshire and Arran has shocked the government big time as Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon made it clear that there would soon be fresh guidelines issued across Scotland.

It was told in the Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) report that there are some 50 incident reports which were not revealed, thereby covering up the existing loopholes in the system.

It was said that Psychiatric nurse Rab Wilson had done a lot to ensure that such hidden incidents are brought out and are being probed deeper. While the announcement has been appreciated by the man, he is of the opinion that there is still lot to be done to ensure that those who are responsible for failings are being dealt strictly.

There is need to move beyond the lip service and unveil the faces who were behind the menace so that it can send a fair message across the entire system.

"I accept that the way we have been recording and following up adverse events does not help us achieve the learning, nor the improvements in patient safety, that our clinicians and the public have a right to expect”, said NHS Ayrshire and Arran Chief Executive John Burns.
