A strange fact has come out to be known by a team of researchers at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry that development of different characteristics by genetic and environmental factors depends on the geographic region of a person.

The report has found that the interactions of genetic make-up with the environment where one lives decide what height, weight or hyperactivity as well as the IQ one possesses. Also, it is based on the surroundings how a person behaves.

The UK-based study dubbed the Twins Early Development Study assessed some 13,000 pairs of twins, either identical or non-identical on the grounds of their behavioral and physical traits, cognitive abilities and environments as well as academic performance when they were 12 in age.

Following the same, they were examined for their attributes’ genetic and environmental hotspots. It was found by Dr. Oliver Davis and colleagues that the influence on genes by environment varied in varied areas.

The team members cited an example that if a person carries genes reducing his risk of developing lung cancer, smoking by people around may cause him to get the same. “The nature-nurture maps help us to spot patterns in the complex data and to try to work out what’s causing these patterns”, Dr. Davis affirmed.
