A few days ago, some scientists from NASA shocked the whole word by stating that our galaxy Milky Way would be colliding with another galaxy in a billion years which would give way to a new galaxy. There were a lot of people that were amazed with this finding and there were also a simulation that was released depicting the cosmic collision.

It was earlier though that the two galaxies would collide, but further studies in to the matter by the Space Telescopes Science Institute led to an in depth finding that the two galaxies seems as if they would be colliding but in reality they would be separated by tens of millions of light-years. This is about 10 times the current distance between Milky Way and the neighboring Andromeda galaxy.

The alignment as seen by the Hubble telescope however gives a silhouetted look of the spiral arms. The two galaxies namely NGC 3314A and NGC 3314B clearly show that they are moving in different directions, and does not correlate any collision course.

At present, the galaxy is roughly around 140 million light years away from Milky Way and is in the direction of the Southern Hemisphere constellation Hydra.
