There is a need for parents to be aware of the kind of digital thermometers being sold on the internet as there are reports from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), which claim that the product is fake. It was claimed after in excess of 400 thermometers were nabbed by the MHRA team during a raid in England in Harrow and Oxford.

It has been made clear that there could be some serious consequences of such fake products are being bought as they provide safe information to users. It was further told that by offering thermometer at just 99 pence, people were forced to take the offer but little do they know that the product is not going to suffice their purpose.

The concern caught the attention after one kid was hospitalized in emergency as the thermometer could not indicate his high temperature, thereby worsening the condition of the boy. There is need for parents to remain alert in the same context so that such cases are not reported further.

“The MHRA is working with internet sites to ensure that fake medical devices are not sold to people, and we urge the public to report faulty medical devices”, said the Deputy Clinical Director of the MHRA, Dr. Nicola Lennard.
