US Officials To Return Dinosaur Fossil to Mongolia

As per recent reports, it has been revealed that a lawsuit has been filed by US government, so as to return dinosaur fossil to Mongolia. It has been recovered that fossil, which is worth millions, was originally from Mongolia.

Manhattan U. S. Attorney Preet Bharara said, “The nearly complete Tyrannosaurus Bataar skeleton was allegedly stolen from Mongolia and brought to the U. S. with false claims that it originated in Great Britain and was worth $15,000”.

Further, Mr. Bharara confirmed that the fossil was sold for more than $1 million through an auction. Rather, even officials from Mongolia have made allegations that the fossil has been smuggled and brought in US.

It has been reported that the lawsuit has been filed this Monday and Heritage Auctions has been declared to be as the defendant. Co-founder of the company, Jim Halperin asserted that he is yet to acknowledge the lawsuit, hence, he will not comment.

Scientists, who analyzed the fossil, suggest that it has been discovered from Gobi desert between the year 1995 and 2005. Further, Federal authorities have claimed that the fossil is a mark of Mongolia’s culture and heritage.

However, latest reports suggest that US officials are looking forward to return the fossil to Mongolian authorities.
