A photograph taken by biologist, Joan Gonzalvo, has baffled the world as for the very first time, a dolphin with an octopus attached to its genitals was seen. The photograph was taken this month at Greek island of Kalamos.

Mr. Gonzalvo was quite astonished when he found octopus attached to dolphin’s genitals. He was reported saying, “I have never seen anything like this”. He further informed that after making it appearance in the public with the octopus, the dolphin continued to swim with its mates.

While writing on his blog, Mr. Gonzalvo said that no sign of distress was seen on the dolphin carrying octopus. Mr. Gonzalvo works for Tethys Research Institute in Milan. His photograph has helped people in learning about unique behavior of the octopus.

The scientists are speculating that the dolphin might have tried to eat the octopus. To save itself, the octopus might have got attached with the dolphin’s genitals. However, to dislodge the octopus from its body, the dolphin jumped out of the water twice.

As soon as the octopus was dislodged, the dolphin swam away with its mates. Scientists are not sure as to how the octopus got attached to dolphin. The new photograph has opened doors for more investigation over the peculiar behavior of marine life.
