A recent research, done by a tea from Newcastle University and Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust, sheds light on how fast-foods can make one obese. While a recent survey calls for imposing ban on fast food outlets outside schools, it is believed that there is no link whatsoever between BMI and fast-food consumption.
For the research, some 193 schoolchildren, who were aged between 11 and 14, and were from schools in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, were examined on the impact of fast-food eating and their BMI.
It is believed that some or the other way, there is need to black the access of such food outlets so that school going children can be kept away from them. Funded by NHS Tower Hamlets, the research was seen in the peer-reviewed open access online medical journal BMJ Open.
While it was believed that there can be significant impact of consumption of takeaway and fast food on instigating obesity, there has not been concrete evidence found in the same context.
While there is no doubt that actions are required to be taken in the same context, it is believed that a lot needs to be done to root out the scar of obesity once and for all.
