Mathematics is a Puzzle for Researchers as well

Not only a common man, but even researchers fear mathematics. A recent research being taken out by a group of researchers from the University of Bristol has found that researchers do not give much value to the studies, which have many figures.

The study is based on the assessment of 650 studies. Lead author Tim Fawcett was of the view that while assessing the studies, they have noticed that research papers, which have more figures, are less likely to be considered to be considered by other researchers and will also not be used as an example in other studies.

It can be possible due the complex quotient, which means that math makes thing difficult for others to understand, and this leaves a negative impression on readers. It can also happen that readers are not able to understand the main message of the study.

"If new theories are presented in a way that is off-putting to other scientists, then no one will perform the crucial experiments needed to test those theories”, said Fawcett.

Co-author of the study Andrew Higginson was of the view that adding a bit of math, but explaining the same in words would help a lot.
