Tuesday was the lucky day for those who have cherished the dreams of speaking to astronauts. On Tuesday morning, about 250 Philadelphia’s children were given the opportunity to hear from NASA astronauts at Philadelphia University campus through satellite.
From NASA, Joe Acaba and Don Pettit spoke to the students and from European Space Agency, Andre Kuipers was available. The students asked many questions which included funny, silly and serious question.
During the question-answer round, the astronauts were asked as to how they do their laundry in space, how do you sleep, do you keep pets and many other questions were asked to keep the astronauts busy. The interaction between the students and the astronauts was a fun interaction.
A student, Ka'alea Rennie asked the astronaut about the way they sleep in space. She said that earlier, she was least interested in becoming astronaut. However, after interacting with the astronauts, her thinking has changed a bit, she said.
Ka'alea Rennie said, “Maybe once in my life. But not for a very long time”. Interaction with the astronauts is good for the overall development of the students. It is hoped that in future as well, students will get chance to interact with the astronauts.
