A large number of people are dying due to VTE, Venous thromboembolism in England. It is a condition in which blood clots are formed in legs and lungs of a person. If these are not diagnosed at an early stage then there are higher chances of fatality.
As suggested by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice), the only way to save lives from this disease is early identification and treatment. Though the symptoms of this disease vary drastically across the country, general patchiness is seen all over the body.
Hospitals in England and Wales have been asked by NICE to offer immediate blood tests and an ultrasound scan, if any patient is reported with such symptoms.
In England last year, around 56,000 people suffered from this disease. Those hospitalized for longer periods are more vulnerable to it.
Due to blood clotting in legs, the patients can suffer from long-term pain, severe swelling and disability to walk. Besides, if these clots travel to their lungs then these can prove to be lethal anytime.
In order to reduce the count of such deaths and illnesses in England, the Hospitals here are checking all their patients so that the risk of developing blood clots should be avoided at initial stage only.
