Snorers Likely To Develop Arthritis

A recent research claimed that those who snore are at the double risk of facing rheumatoid arthritis. It has been claimed by a team from Taipei Medical University after examining 1,141 people who were reported to be sleep apnea. They were later compared to 7,000 healthy people and it was concluded that some 91% belonging to the group affected by snoring were likely to have one of the three conditions behind triggering rheumatoid arthritis.

It is known that rheumatoid arthritis affects joints badly, thereby causing swelling, fibrous tissue growth, synovial fluid retention, intense inflammation and in some serious cases, fusion of joints can also occur. There is need for women between 40 and 50 ages to be a bit more careful about the same as they are more likely to suffer.

“But the potential link between these two conditions should not be overlooked. Among the diseases we studied, rheumatoid arthritis had the highest risk of developing in sleep apnoea patients”, said the researchers.

There are as many as 350,000 people in the UK affected by the same and that’s what makes it all the more serious in the time to come. It is also believed that there are fair chances of those suffering from chronic sleep apnoea also suffering from inflammation in blood vessels throughout the body.
