Becoming a mother is all together a beautiful transition in woman’s life, but its journey is not at all easy. Girls, who have grown up listening stories of their mother’s painful deliveries, develop a kind of fear within them, which can put them in the same situation and that too for prolonged period.
Recently, a group of researchers from Norway has conducted a research in which they have found that women, who fear about childbirth pain, have to remain in labor for more time, than those women, who do not fear it.
Lead author Samantha Salvesen Adams, from the University of Oslo in Norway, was of the view that during their research, they got to know that 5% to 20% women fear childbirth. “Fear of childbirth seems to be an increasingly important issue in obstetric care. Our finding of longer duration of labor in women who fear childbirth is a new piece”, said Adams.
In order to reach at the above given conclusion, the study researchers assessed the health of 2,206 women, and asked them certain questions in regard to their fear for childbirth. In the second stage, the assessed the time they have spent in delivery rooms.
It was revealed that women, who feared child birth the most, had to spent maximum time in labor room.
