As per a recent report, it has been unveiled that an only clinic for abortion in Mississippi has feared of being closed soon due to a new law being introduced in the state.
The report says that with an aim to end the evil practice of conducting abortions in Mississippi, the new law has been proposed. The bill-signing event held in April had also heard Mississippi Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves saying that it opens a way to eliminate the ongoing tradition.
However, large criticisms are being faced by the law from all physicians involved in such practices. Jackson Women's Health Organization has even filed a case against the same claiming that the same is unconstitutional as it enforces unacceptable requirements.
It has been found that the legislation to come into force on July 1 asks all doctors practicing abortions to be board-certified OB-GYNs at first. Also, they would need to have privileges before they admit patients then.
It is being said by the New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights’ president and CEO Nancy Northup that the law would hold back women from getting abortions.
Thus, the state Department of Health has decided to conduct an inspection into the clinic on Monday, which if fails to comply with the new law, would be shut down afterwards.
