Dayton Seeks President’s Aid

Recently, the Governor of Minnesota, Dayton sent a request to the President of the US asking him to help the counties and tribes affected with flood that took place last week. Dayton was reported saying, “I have no doubt it will be approved by the president and signed. It’s a question of when. It’s typically two weeks, but we’ll see if we can shorten that”.

Dayton has further informed that the allocation of the funds would be made after analyzing the situation minutely. The regions which have been adversely affected by the flood would be helped. Most of the damages have occurred in Duluth. Mayor Don Ness informed that the damages in Duluth are estimated to be somewhere around $51 million.

The cost of damages is still being calculated. It is hoped that the home owners will get an aid of worth $31,000 by the federal government. The flooding although have caused serious damages, no case of death has been reported.

The President of the US, Obama, has yet to comment upon the issue. Hundreds of people were required to be evacuated from their residents as the flood was turning aggressive. It would take weeks for people affected by the flood to come back to their normal lives.
