In an advent of preventing all the newborns from the crisis of drug addiction, lawmakers are requesting the concerned authorities to immediately introduce laws to help protect babies from all the prescription painkillers.
Above suggestions are following the findings of a JAMA research that was recently done by the experts to know the number of babies that are born today with addiction. The findings of the above research were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, concluding that the number of babies born addicted to dangerous painkillers like opioids such as oxycodone, is increasing every year.
Confirmations over the subject were received from one of the New York’s hospitals, which said in its findings that an increase of 500-percent has been noted in the figures in the past two years.
Researchers explained that the newborns, who are born with such addictions are more prone to suffer from symptoms like tremors, irritability, vomiting and diarrhea. Also such babies are at big risk of facing birth defects and long-term learning impairments.
Certain serious plans and actions are being decided by Senator Mr. Charles Schumer from New York to put an immediate end to these rising numbers of affected new born babies.
