West Nile Virus on Rise

In a shocking revelation, it has been revealed that 42 mosquitoes and 160 dead birds have been tested positive for West Nile virus. Truc Dever, who is the spokeswoman for the Greater Los Angeles County, gave the details that they collected mosquitoes on June 21, from three different locations.

While searching for more mosquitoes, Dever said that they encountered dead crows in Newhall, Encino and Silverlake, and found them to be tested positive for the virus. This was not an end to this horrifying story as other 160 dead birds dead birds were also found in Sacramento County.

All these encounters have made them to reach at a conclusion that the inrush infection rate is going to increase with the passage of time. In such scenario, the authorities concerned have asked to take all the precautionary measures to remain protected from the virus.

Some of the symptoms being associated with the virus are fever, body ache, swelling, rashes and nausea. It shall however, be noted that the symptoms of the virus can last for few weeks, but can stretch by a month, depending upon the condition.

"The earlier in the year it gets warmer and stays warm, that sets the conditions for West Nile Virus to grow", said David Neitzel, who is an epidemiologist, while he was explaining the reason for spread of the virus.
