This is the time when local people can do something to bring changes in the lives of people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease. In order to seek that support, the Alzheimer Society of B. C. has asked youth to come forward and fulfill their moral obligations.

Explaining things to be performed by volunteers, the society heads were of the view that volunteers need to take care of patients. For that purpose, they can be asked to make a call for Alzheimer patients or assist them completely.

It shall however be noted that it is not easy to volunteer for the service. One has to fulfill certain requirements and some of them being, volunteers should have listening abilities, which means that they need to have a lot of patients to understand patient's viewpoint.

He must possess knowledge of dementia, so that he is well versed with any kind of peculiar symptom, being shown by a patient. It will help them to take right action on right time. Another very important quality is that the care fiver should always be ready to face new challenges and always prepared to learn new things.

"Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless", said Sherry Anderson, from the Alzheimer Society of B. C.
