These days, zookeepers in Indonesia are having tough time. It is not that they are facing any kind of financial trouble, it is because of the fact that one of the orangutan’s are not able to quit smoking.

It seems to be quite astonishing, but it is true that one of an orangutan’s in the zoo is a chain smoker and zookeepers are trying their level best to make sure that it does not smokes anymore.

Hardi Baktiantoro, from the Center for Orangutan Protection, said that this female orangutan is so smart that whenever she needs cigarette, she just keeps two fingers near her mouth to indicate that she wants one.

"It is very common in Indonesian zoos for people to throw cigarettes or food [at animals] even though there are signs to not feed or give cigarettes”, further affirmed Hardi. He further affirmed that one of the other reasons for which this orangutan smokes is that her parents were also smokers.

Hardi said that seeing the addiction of the animal they have decided to keep the animal away from visitors. It is said that they will moved to another place, so that they can make sure that the animal does not smokes anymore.
