US Military to have underwater fiber-optic cable

In order to improve the communication conditions in the US, the U. S. military has decided to install underwater fiber-optic cable. The officials hope that the $40 million system will bring some respite and will improve the communication system.

Army Lt. Col. Todd Breasseale said that the US army infrastructure was not as good as was of other government agencies. This point was the second reason to have that communication base being installed on the US naval base.

To describe the system in simple words then Breasseale said that it is like a dial-up Internet, which used to exist in 90s. Giving more information of the system, he said that for now, the communication will be set on a single satellite and will have a cable, which will run 800 miles.

Breasseale said that the cable will run from Guantanamo Bay to South Florida and will take other two years, before its fully operation. However, for now, Cuban authorities have been informed about the same.

“It massively degrades the systems when you have to put your work product on hold”, was one of the reasons for using the technology. In order to improve the system, the officials have been re-routing the bandwidths, as per the need.
