US Army Corps Engineers Under Trial

US Army Corps Engineers Under Trial

It has been reported that the US Army Corps of Engineers have been sued for threatening the environment through dredging of the Savannah River. The environmental group has claimed that the dredging will prove hazardous for the environment of South Carolina.

The authorities of Georgia have also stand in opposition of the US Army Corps Engineers. Many agencies have affirmed that the deepening of the harbor would reduce the oxygen level in the river. The Federal Court would be hearing the trail soon.

However, in defense of the US Army Corps Engineers, the US District Judge Richard Gergel said that the suit has been filed on the base of tall claims. He said that no harm has yet been caused by the US Army Corps Engineers.

The trail over the case would start shortly as the deepening process is due to begin in the coming spring. Before the spring arrives, the court would like to come to a conclusion. However, the US Army Corps Engineers have asked the court to end the suit because no harm has been made to environment by them. If, the deepening of the harbor is allowed then it would be deepened by 38-mile channel.
