The result of clinical trial has given hopes to many and has also become a new competitor for the medicine being developed by Gilead.

Dolutegravir is the name of medicine, which has been developed by GlaxoSmithKline and its Japanese partner Shionogi. It is expected that the drug will be in the market by the end of 2013.

The manufacturing company has many hopes from the novel HIV drug, as it is considered that the drug will prove to be a lucky mascot for the company to reinstate its stature in HIV market. The manufacturers were boasting of the fact that the pill uses a unique formula that directly reaches to the disease causing cells.

The GSK officials said that about 88% of patient, who took part in the study were being benefitted from the drug. “This study represents an important milestone in the development of dolutegravir-based regimens, including a single-tablet regimen, and also for the Shionogi-ViiV Healthcare joint venture”, said Dr. John Pottage, who is the chief medical officer at the ViiV Healthcare.
