It was indeed a painful time for the Veteran British soap actress Liz Dawn after she was identified with an incurable lung disease. It was in the year 2008 that she had no option but to leave the show, after playing the role of Vera Duckworth for 34 years.
“My breathing was so bad I thought I was dying. I'd smoked for many years and I'd always had a bit of a cough and a splutter but I was getting worse and worse and struggling to breathe”, she said, whose character was later killed to make way for her exit.
It was in the year 2003 that she was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which left her in a really bad condition till the end of the show. She had gone through panic attacks and what not, before she finally decided to call it off. She was not only physically affected but she has become emotionally weak too as she used to shed tears in lonely times. It was indeed a stressful moment for the lady who was so popular for her character.
After experiencing the hard time, she has only one suggestion for others that they must get themselves treated as soon as possible before their condition reaches the stage she has suffered.
