Scientists Discover ‘Most Complete Early Human Ancestor Skeleton’

A recent research has been able to nail down the "most complete early human ancestor skeleton ever discovered”. It has been claimed by University of Witwatersrand paleontologist Lee Berger that this Skelton is perhaps the most complete one of an ancient relative of man. It was some three year ago that remains of a juvenile hominid skeleton were found from an archaeological site. It is believed that the skeleton must be of someone who was aged between nine and 13 years at the time of death.

"We have discovered parts of a jaw and critical aspects of the body including what appear to be a complete femur (thigh bone), ribs, vertebrae and other important limb elements, some never before seen in such completeness in the human fossil record”, said Professor Berger, who was spearheading the research of Australopithecus (southern ape) sediba species.

The species, which had long arms, a small brain and a thumb, was spotted in a one-metre-wide rock and is believed to be somewhat close to ancestor of humans' genus, Homo. This revelation has surprised the team to the extent that they are trying to explore a lot about the skeleton, which is believed to be some two million years old.
