A shocking report revealed how drug OxyContin is the reason behind pushing drug addicts to heroine. It has been claimed OxyContin is the strongest version of the generic drug oxycodone and perhaps made drug addicts hook to it. However, things didn’t go well with concerned authorities as they formulated the drug in 2010.
In consequent to the reformulation, it became all the more difficult for drug addicts to enjoy the drug as previously. Nonetheless, they switched to heroin. It has been found during a survey of 2,500 patients at 150 rehabilitation clinics across 39 states that the number of people switching to heroine has doubled, thereby sending the clear signal that things are not going fine as expected after the formulation move.
“When we asked about what drug they were using now, most said something like: 'Because of the decreased availability of OxyContin, I switched to heroin”, said Theodore Cicero from the Washington University School of Medicine, who led the research, while asserting that it’s perhaps the worst side of formulation that there is apparent surge in the number of heroin cases.
There is dire need to take some stern measure in front of the available proof before things become all the more worst.
