'Beige Fat' May Help Shed Extra Kilos

A recent research has managed to nail down a fat which might be able to address the rising concern of obesity. It has been claimed by a team from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute that they have found "beige fat," which is most likely to help shedding extra flab in adults.

Published in the journal Cell, the study showed how the fat is layered in pea-size deposits under skin near the collarbone in addition to along the spine. However, the best part is that this fat burns calorie unlike other fats. "During exercise, muscles release the hormone irisin, which then converts ordinary white fat cells into beige ones – and those beige cells burn up extra calories”, said Bruce Spiegelman, the author of the research.

It is believed by the team that there are fair chances of the beige fat to be behind burning the extra calories in the body, thereby catering to obesity. With potential evidence in hand, it is believed that beige fat might be able to instigate lot many researches so that new treatments for obesity and diabetes can be developed in the time to come. There is dire need to know a lot more about the underlying theory so that something can be done for obese.
