There is no doubt that South Africa has been working hard to reduce AIDS cases, it seems that they need to do more efforts for the same. For a long time, doctors and activists have been encouraging people in South Africa to take up HIV tests and people were also acknowledging the same.
However, tables turned at the time when it was found that 4.5million SD Bioline kits were not providing correct results. The kits were ordered in March, and later it was found that the batches of the kits were not showing any result.
When the issue was being discussed with Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi then he was of the view that he was not aware of the fact that kits have been ordered. He put the blame on doctors and said that the kits have been ordered, despite the fact that the brand has been discarded the list of the World Health Organization.
It seems that Motsoaledi is not interested in addressing the issue, as he refused to reveal that whether the paid amount for the kits will be refunded or not. "An HIV test is difficult to do at all time for people, so we don't want questions over the efficacy of the HIV tests to stop people from testing”, he further affirmed.
