Small Clinics ‘Addressing’ HIV Infection in South Africa Come Under Scanner

It seems that it would take some time before South Africa would be able to get rid of the scar of HIV/AIDS. Though it has made many efforts, it has been found that that is a lot to be done before the government can be left assured.

It was also found that promotions for HIV tests are being done too in northeast KwaZulu-Natal, which is reported to be highly affected by the disease. It is believed that small clinics as of now are under the scanner so that this disease can be fought with. Even the South African government is also paying attention to such small medical centres so that those who have not been reached out yet are being tested for the disease.

With some 20% of the adult population infected with the virus, it is believed that directed efforts are required to be made before things go out of the control. "If their CD4 [cells are] too low, they have to get the treatment immediately, they do that. Everything is being done here”, said Futi Mlambo, a nurse at the clinic, while claiming that there has been rise seen in number of people getting themselves tested for the disease after nurses were giving drug therapy.
