Four Indian-American Scientists to Be Honored With Highest US Presidential Award

Recent reports suggest that four Indian-American scientists have been selected to be honored with prestigious Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers. It has been reported that the four scientists are among the other 96 researchers who will also be given away the awards.

These awards have been considered as the highest awards that US government has given to science and engineering professionals for excelling or coming out with brilliant colors, during their initial years of research career.

The Indian-American scientists, whose names were called out by US President Barack Obama, are Sridevi Vedula Sarma, Pawan Sinha, Parag A. Pathak and Biju Parekkadan.

Mr. Sinha is an assistant professor in Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, while Parekkadan deals with hospitals.

Mr. Obama said, “Discoveries in science and technology not only strengthen our economy, they inspire us as a people. The impressive accomplishments of awardees so early in their careers promise even greater advances”.

The awards were established in the year 1996. All those chosen to be honored with the awards are selected on the basis of their work in the field of innovation in order to update the technology and their work is also considered as a boom for the society.
