A 17-year-old girl has won a grand prize at the Google Science Fair for making a computer application that mimics brain waves and is able to sense breast cancer. The award ceremony was held last night in Palo Alto, California.
While explaining her application, Brittany Wenger from Florida, said that in reality, the application is a computer program, which is being developed on the footsteps of brain cells, which further acts as an artificial neural network.
Experts saw Brittany’s development and were of the view that like any other artificial development, artificial neural networks also have capacity to perform better, if they are given examples. However, Brittany was of the view that she created the programme for breast cancer, as it is the only one cancer, which has very few diagnostic tests and those, which are available are also not convincing.
She further affirmed that in order to provide examples to her prepared application, she used different types of fine needle aspirate models. In order to know the efficacy of her prepared model, she tested other models as well, but found her model to be the most reliable. She was of the view that her prepared model should be used in hospitals, in some time now.
