It is a matter of concern that biodiversity is on decline in number of forests. Though the forests are at high security, then also many of the guarded species are found to be on decline. The revelation was being made in a research, which has been published in the journal Nature.

Some of the things that have been on decline are timber stock, and hunting has depleted many species. In order to reach at the above given result, the study researchers said that they assessed 60 areas across Africa, Asia and South America.

In addition, they conducted 262 interviews from experts, like experienced biologists and environmental scientists. All the people, who were being questioned, were having more than 20 years of experience.

"Our study was motivated by three broad issues: whether tropical reserves will function as 'arks' for biodiversity and natural ecosystem processes”, said the study researchers.

After assessing the places, the study researchers reached at a conclusion that more than just patrolling the places, there is a need to take steps and that too stern, so that the depleting biodiversity can be saved. Air and water pollution were also some of the other issues that were being noticed during the assessment.
