Male Circumcision Offers Protection against Sexual Infections

A lot many efforts are being done to encourage men in South Africa so that they should opt for routine circumcision. The move is being supported by the World Health Organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as well as by the number of NGOs.

However, there are people, who are against the move. The WHO was of the view that it is one time procedure, which has no loss and would make sure that sexual diseases are not being passed to other person.

“Medical male circumcision reduces the risk of female-to-male sexual transmission of HIV by approximately 60%”, said the WHO officials. Health experts are of the view that the male circumcision gives best prescription when it is being done during childhood.

It shall also be noted that no other procedure can provide such a security, which is being provided by this method. It drastically reduces HIV infection chances, said experts while supporting the move to legalize the male circumcision.

Not only, it will prevent HIV infection, it will also provide protection against other sexual infections as well. The WHO efforts seem to be working, as many men across Africa have been coming for this procedure, said health experts from South Africa.
