NASA Hopeful for Curiosity Mission

NASA is currently working on its project called ‘Curiosity’. It is estimated that the project has cost $2.5 billion to the US taxpayers. Money and funding required for the project was raised by charging taxes to the US workers.

The US government is spending lavishly over the space exploration. If we look at the history of the US space exploration then one will find that the US has been launching space shuttle on Mars for quite long. However, in 1976, Viking 1 was landed on the Mars.

John Grunsfeld from NASA's Science Mission Directorate said, “The Curiosity landing is the hardest NASA robotic mission ever attempted in the history of exploration of Mars, or any of our robot exploration”. It is estimated that within three weeks, the Curiosity would land on the surface of the Mars.

Through the Curiosity, the researchers would be able to get the pictures of Mars. Besides, the rover would also analyze the chemicals found on the surface of Mars. The main aim behind the project is to know whether the planet has any potential habitability. The presence of water would be also be analyzed by the Curiosity.
