Rare Illness Victimizes 20 Ugandans

As many as 14 people have been killed till date by the Ebola virus, reports the World Health Organization (WHO), the outbreak of which was realized earlier in July.

An investigation into the region’s health has found that nearly 20 people in total were targeted with the virus’s arrival in the western Kibaale district, which is some 200 kilometres from the west Kampala, the capital of Ugandan.

It has been found that the inquest was being held following the rise in fear of the haemorrhagic disease amongst people. Thousands of residents had started to run away from their homes for the source was not being known.

The rare type of disease, as per the findings, was first discovered in 2007, when around 37 people’s deaths in western Uganda were somehow found related to a river in DR Congo. It is being said that some 170 people’s lives were also risked by the disease in 2000.

Joaquim Sewaka, who is a WHO Uganda representative, has told that with an aim to reach the source, members of the Ugandan health ministry along with a group from the US government's Centre for Disease Control (CDC) has been sent at the site.

"The response is strong and we will try to set up quarantine points as soon as possible”, said Sewaka.
