Gut Microbes Support Expecting Mothers

It has been said for a long time that microbes are not healthy for humans. However, a recent research has found that gut microbes prove to be beneficial for a woman during her pregnancy.

The study being taken out by a group of researchers from Cornell University has noticed during their research that the gut microbes helps and support fetal growth. It shall however, be noted that things may vary among women, who are not pregnant. Women, who are not pregnant, will witness weight gain, inflammation and anxiety, due to the same.

Lead author Ruth Ley said, “In the context of pregnancy, these metabolic changes in the mother are healthy, because they promote energy storage in fat tissue and help support the foetus”.

The study, which has been published in the Cell journal, has also talked about the effect of gut microbes among women, who are not pregnant. Ruth said that extremes may lead to the development of type-2 diabetes and women can also suffer from other types of health problems as well.

The research has given a very useful thought that further research needs to be done when it comes to the effect of gut microbes and changes involved with it.
