As per a study being taken out by a group of researchers from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Yeshiva University, it has been revealed that Jews living in South Africa started settling down in South Africa during Classical Antiquity.

After settling there, they started to mingle with local population and in order to become part of them, the Jews started marrying local population. Lead researcher Harry Ostrer, who is the professor of pathology and genetics at Montefiore Medical Center, was of the view that for more than 2,000 years, the Jews has become part of the community.

"Our new findings define North African Jews, complete the overall population structure for the various groups of the Jewish Diaspora, and enhance the case for a biological basis”, said Harry.

In order to find the above given statement, the study researchers have tracked the genetic analysis of Jews, who have been living in North Africa. It has also been found that Jews of different communities came closer to each other, and maintained their own stature and kept themselves away from contemporary non-Jewish community.

Jews from Eastern European and the ones that belonged to Mizrahi, which included Iraqi and Syrian, were closer to each other.
