Aspirin helps ward off cancer risk, finds US Study

A recent US study has shed doubts on the claims made that aspirin can actually ward off cancer risk. Though the study which involved over 100,000 healthy people asserted that potentially aspirin can reduce cancer risk, it is now being claimed that there is still lot to be done before concluding the same.

"Things are moving forward, but it is still a work in progress”, said Michael Thun of the American Cancer Society, who was part of the study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. However, US medical recommendations direct people to control aspirin dosage so as to shove off heart disease risk. "Although recent evidence about aspirin use and cancer is encouraging, it is still premature to recommend people start taking aspirin specifically to prevent cancer”, said Dr. Eric Jacobs, who led the study.

It was earlier this year that claims surrounding the benefits of daily intake of aspirin were unveiled, which had surprised one and all in the medical community. It was found that those who had taken the said medicine observed a reduced 16% risk of dying from cancer, thereby raising hopes of millions of cancer patients around the world.

There is dire need to ascertain both the sides of aspirin intake before anything conclusive could be said for medical reasons.
