A recent report has uncovered that a proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline is now being questioned by many. Since, report regarding an oil spill in the Kalamazoo River in 2010 has not as yet been provided by the company.
It is being said by an investigating unit that undoubtedly, a report on the same had been previously released by the U. S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). But, the same was prepared on its own and not at Enbridge’s end. The rupture had resulted in a leakage of some 877,000 gallons of oil, as per the findings, into the Kalamazoo River.
Enbridge has till date not considered the oil spill issue as a serious matter. However, it is trying to proceed with the proposal of development of the Northern Gateway pipeline, while ignoring further possible similar risks by the same.
Also, it is being seen despite clear signals from the NTSB report that the oil spill had proved to be a complete breakdown of safety. The company seems not accepting that its employees had failed to recognize the rupture and acted as "Keystone Kops” by keeping on the work of pumping oil.
"There obviously has to be a management culture of safety and it has to permeate the organization”, said Joe Oliver, Natural Resources Minister.
