The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has discovered Oregon as the leading state as compared to all other states when it comes to excellent breastfeeding rates, as per a recent report.

The Breastfeeding Report Card — United States, 2012 that was released on Aug. 1 has shown highest rates of breastfeeding in the state till 6 months as well as 1 year. Almost 89% of infants were found to have been ever breastfed by their mothers.

Breastfeeding, as per health experts is extremely essential for infants as well as their mothers. It has been told that the same not only provides the baby important nutrients, but helps them develop antibodies that further help them fight different diseases.

The indicators are a part of all health objectives that have been prepared by Healthy People 2020. “Adequate provision of nutrients, beginning in the early stages of life is considered crucial to ensure good physical and mental development”, says the report.
