Ottawa Public Health has come forward with a motive to make people more aware about safe sex. Ottawa has the highest proportion of people infected by HIV, as almost 40% of them don’t use safety measures.
The city’s most popular Sex it Smart program, has revealed its new logo, which is believed to achieve the goal. This social media campaign spreads awareness regarding safe sex and attempts to dwindle the growing rates of sexually transmitted infections in the youth.
Prior to choosing the logo, people were asked to submit the designs for it. As many as 51 submissions were obtained, out of which six were finalized. The one, which was chosen the best and has emerged as the new logo of the campaign has been created by Madeleine Gagne.
Gagne is a graphic design student at Algonquin College, she will be soon pursuing with her second year of the college. She is eight months pregnant. Gagne has decided that she will be utilizing the prize amount, $500 to but her unborn baby some accessories and furniture.
Councilor Mathieu Fleury, who was a judge on the panel, said “There’s a clear message, it’s simple and uncomplicated. It’s very social media oriented. The more people talk about it, the more they will know”.
