With the help of the new tool introduced by the University of Houston and two public health groups on Monday, it has become easier for the Houstonians to check the presence of ozone levels in their surroundings.

The concerned groups of scientists have suggested that this new tool will also help people see and conclude if smog levels around them are harmful or no. It’s a quick procedure to do a check especially at schools, soccer fields and homes.

The searchable map discovered recently has properties to allow its user to clearly identify the ozone levels or smog levels at specific locations and help them tracking the movement of same.

The Houston Clean Air Network map is the first such tool of its kind to check ozone. But it has one small disadvantage: the results from the tool is approx more than an hour old, said Mr. Matthew Tejada, Executive Director of Air Alliance Houston, one of the groups involved in the project. "This isn't a regulatory tool”, Tejada said. "It's a public health tool”.
