Public Poll This Time to Choose Winning Robots

It is for the first time that robot laureates in the Robot Hall of Fame would be chosen by the public votes and not by expert judges, reveals a latest report.

The Robot Hall of Fame was found by Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in the year 2003 and the same has since then always given the robots their honors by expertise in the domain. However, it would see the same primarily by voting process, which would be conducted online.

"As more students, workers and consumers become accustomed to robots, it seems like a natural step to give the public a voice in selecting inductees", affirmed Director Shirley Saldamarco. The member of Carnegie Mellon’s Entertainment Technology Center said expressing his views that the hall is in need to get changed with technological and artistic changes in robotics over time.

It has been found that 12 robots are nominated for the competition, all of whom are to be honored in four categories. Industry leaders along with robotics experts and robo-aficionados have selected the robots for nominations. The report also says that one person would be allowed to vote for one robot in each group and lines are open until Sept. 30.

Besides, winner robots would be put in association with the RoboBusiness Leadership Summit at the hall on Oct. 23.
