CT Scan - Best Way to Detect Heart Ailments

CT Scan - Best Way to Detect Heart Ailments

A review published recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association by a group of researchers at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center suggests that there is nothing better than a CT scan when it is a detection of a heart disease.

Though, some doctors are of the opinion that the process results in adverse consequences. The team considering the same has still reached to the only conclusion that the same is the best way also. It is being said that amongst a total of six methods to diagnose one’s risk of a heart problem, CT scan has proved better for those at an intermediate risk.

It continues to say that almost 33.5 million Americans at a risk could be saved with this technique. It is being said that the method allows doctors to determine if the risks are low, medium or high. Since, the tool named Framingham score aids them to look at the level of blood pressure and cholesterol along with gender, smoking history and age.

“The present study provides additional support for the use of CAC as a tool for refining cardiovascular risk prediction in individuals classified as intermediate risk”, affirmed Dr. Joseph Yeboah and colleagues.
