First West Nile Virus Case Confirmed in New Hampshire

Recently, the health officials of New Hampshire have confirmed its first human case of West Nile virus. Following the revelation, spraying has taken place in the region so that West Nile virus spreading mosquitoes could be culled.

All across the nation, there have been 41 reported deaths because of the virus. But, in the New Hampshire, it is for the very first time, in the past two years, when a human case of West Nile has been reported.

Since 2000, it is the fifth case of West Nile virus in New Hampshire. The health officials have asked people to take proper preventions and avoid the biting of the mosquitoes. A person affected with West Nile virus can have headaches, muscle weakness, fever and neck stiffness.

As the symptoms are mild, people fail to report to the doctors timely. West Nile virus can be life threatening if left untreated. People have been urged to contact doctors if they experience the symptoms after being bitten by mosquitoes.

Many states are grappling with the West Nile virus spreading mosquitoes. Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Texas are some of the regions were the virus is widespread.
