Mushrooms Contaminated With Listeria Recalled

It has been reported that the fear of listeria has called for a recall of Champ's sliced mushrooms. The mushrooms have already been recalled in the regions of Alberta and British Columbia. It has been informed that the recalled mushroom weighed 227 grams and had a packing date of August 10 and August 11.

Till now, no case of illness has been reported yet. During an inspection by Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the investigators raised alarm of the possibility of mushrooms being contaminated by listeria. The Agency has informed that a particular brand Sliced White Mushrooms is deemed to be contaminated.

Therefore, people have been asked not to consume the mushrooms unless and until the Agency announces that the mushroom is safe. The mushrooms have been voluntarily recalled by the company. Consumers have been asked to be very careful. If contaminated mushroom is consumed by pregnant, elders or toddlers then it could cause serious health complications.

Although the products have been recalled, the consumers who have already purchased the mushrooms can either return them to the retailers or destroy them. However, precautions are required to be taken while destroying the contaminated mushrooms. If any one feels uneasiness after consuming mushroom then they should report to the doctors.
