No Matter Which Colored Hair or Skin a Patient has, Anesthesia Works Same on Eve

In several earlier studies, it was claimed that people with redheads are generally high in temper. Now, there were reports saying that such people become really difficult to handle when they are operated. No anesthesia works on them; most of them are conscious and can experience awareness even after a heavy dose of drug.

But recently, researchers from Melbourne have dispelled this myth. According to them, no matter which colored-hair or skin a person has, when he is given as anesthesia, he is never likely to wake up under the knife.

A Melbourne anesthetist Professor Paul Myles, in order to find out the exact relation between redhead individuals and anesthesia, conducted a large study of 468 healthy adult patients. All of them were enduring elective surgery.

He investigated each one of them to find out the truth. As a result, he revealed, "Anesthetists have been told for a number of years that redheads are problematic, more troublesome and need more anesthesias. We found in fact that redheads behave basically exactly the same as everyone else when they have anesthesia in surgery”.

With this discovery, however, Myle hopes that all those individuals who consider redheads to be more troublesome during surgery will surely get relieved.

In earlier studies, either animals or healthy adults were used but in this latest study, research has been made on real patients.
