With approaching 2012 Paralympic Games, VisitEngland has made a new launch with an aim to serve tourists with the best information and guidance to plan their trip. This new online guide will help advising destination managers on accessibility information.
The guide has been named as ‘Winning More Visitors’. VisitEngland has developed this guide to better the figures of the national tourist board’s survey, according to which, 83 percent wanting to access information to plan their trip use destination websites but only 39 percent succeed and finds the information they need.
Moreover, the research also cleared that 74 percent people prefer choosing destinations that are offered with the best guidance and support.
With similar aim, ‘Winning More Visitors’ is facilitating its viewers with a variety of important information to help them plan their trip very easily. The online guide also provides details of local public transport, accessible parking; accessibility of tourism businesses; and where to find assistance during the stay etc.
Mr. Ross Calladine, VisitEngland’s skills, welcome & accessibility manager, said: “Visitors who have a health condition or impairment – and their travelling companions – spend over £2bn each year in England, and our research shows that many of those visitors will choose where to spend that money based on the access information available on destination websites”.
Sources are telling that the Department of Culture, Media and Sport are also planning to spend £2m on domestic tourism marketing after the Olympics.
