The annual event Labor Day Weekend Fill the Boot campaign will be a major advantage for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The campaign was commenced on Friday in Fairfax County and will be functional throughout the weekend.

Several organizations in the county, including Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics — International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) Local 2068, he Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and a few others collaborate with each year every year to make this event a big success.

These organizations along with Greater Washington Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) fund the event.

IAFF Local 2068 Communications Director Joel Kobersteen said “For the past seven of the twenty-plus years that they have been collecting, members of Local 2068 have consistently been in the top three in the nation for amount collected”. Kobersteen also acts as the co-coordinator of the event.

He asserted that last year, Local 2068 volunteers at the campaign were able to make a contribution of over $435,000 to the Greater Washington MDA.

The International Association of Fire Fighters has been reported to be one of the top supporters of MDA across the nation. Since the past 58-years, they made a contribution of worth $450 million.
